阿图尔·罗比森，American-born, of German-Jewish background. He was brought up in Germany and studied medicine at the University of Munich. Practised as a doctor, before entering films in 1914 as writer/director. Best known for the nightmarish Schatten - Eine nächtliche Halluzination (1923), an early masterpiece of German expressionist cinema.
