这是一部记录人民艺术家赵丹的传记片。赵丹十三岁就开始从事演剧活动，十七岁进入明星影片公司，开始了电影演员生涯。赵丹为艺术艰苦奋斗了五十年。他是我国影坛上的一颗巨星。从三十年代到八十年代，他塑造了一百多个各种类型的艺术形象。他每扮演一个角色，都呕心沥血，刻苦探索。赵丹是一个多才多艺的艺术家，他的绘画意境高远，技法纯熟，为我国当代画廊增添了光彩。他还为后人留下《地狱之门》《银幕形象创造》等著作。
